Western newspapers report that Tibetan Buddhists have identified
the next Dalai Lama. The Panchen Lama, the second-ranking prelate,
recently was blessing a large crowd of followers, when a nine-month-old
baby in his mother's arms grabbed the Panchen's beads. Until
or unless a more powerful or contrary sign is received, the
child will become the Dalai Lama. Tibetan Buddhists have been
searching for the 14th reincarnation of their spiritual leader
since the death of the 13th reincarnation of the Dalai Lama
four years ago.

76. As bishop of Hippo in North Africa, Augustine is one the

his "Confessions," in which he descibes his wild and dissolute
youth and his conversion to Christianity around the time of
his 30th birthday, and "City of God" are already having an enormous
influence on Christian thought. Many consider him the founder
of Christian theology.
